Local Governing Body

The Board of Trustees has identified that each school in the Trust will have a committee to oversee governance at a local level. This committee is called the Local Governing Body (LGB). The LGB’s membership consists of the following for each school:

i) Parent governors – minimum of 2, maximum of 4

ii) Head Teacher,

iii) Staff governor – 1,

iv) LGB appointed – 7 with a minimum of 3

 

The work of the LGB is determined by the responsibilities delegated to it by the Board of Trustees as outlined in the Trust’s Scheme of Delegation. In general terms, the LGB is responsible for the following:

a) Providing leadership for the strategic planning of the academy through the approval of the School Development (SDP);

b) Monitoring progress made by the school against the key priorities for improvement identified in the school’s SDP;

c) Holding the school’s senior leaders to account for the performance of all staff through the school’s performance management arrangements;

d) Ensuring that the safeguarding and wellbeing of staff and pupils are kept under constant review;

e) Determining annually, in consultation with the CEO, the staffing structure of the school;

f) Proposing, in consultation with the CEO and CFO, the annual budget and three year-financial plan for approval by the Board of Trustees;

g) Reviewing spending on a regular basis against the agreed budget;

h) Ensuring that what is happening in the school reflects the agreed policies of the Board of Trustees;

i) Providing regular feedback to the Board of Trustees on any issues/areas of concern.
