Brief details:

I trained as a social worker and spent over ten years working within Durham County Council. I worked with children and young people within education settings before moving to Investing In Children where I spent 7 years as Durham’s Children’s Rights Officer, working to ensure that all children and young people got a fair chance and that all groups got the best from the services available.

Throughout my career I have worked with Public and Third Sector organisations who work with and for children and young people. I was also involved in the development of the nationally acclaimed Young Carers Charter, which has successfully been rolled out in primary and secondary schools across County Durham. I am commitment to working in my local community and I am passionate about all children and young people having a voice in their community. In 2015 I started Approach Too, a Community Interest Company which works with the schools in Ferryhill and Chilton helping to raise the aspirations of children and young people and to provide opportunities to meet these aspirations.

I became a Trustee and Cleves Cross Learning Trust in May 2016. There are many reasons why I chose to become trustee but the overriding one is to ensure that every pupil has a happy journey through Cleves Cross Primary and they are given the best opportunities to achieve their full potential. I believe that this is achieved by staff, pupils, parents, governors and trustees working together as a team with shared goals, visions and values.
