I served as both a parent and then community governor at Rosa Street Primary School for over 21 years, taking up the position of Vice Chair in 2004 and then the role of Chair of Governors in 2006, resigning from this position in October 2017.
I have been a member of the Board of Cleves Cross Learning Trust since September 2014, when Rosa Street Primary School became part of it and continue to work with the Board of Directors, in order to support successful collaboration between the schools, achieve effective accountability and to provide ongoing school improvement.
My background is from working within the Civil Service, employed at the Department for Education, in Darlington, where I held a variety of posts. These included working in human resources, facilities management, and policy directorates and well as undertaking financial management and budgeting roles, where as Assistant Finance Manager, I was responsible for estimating, profiling and analysing budgets amounting to more than £12m. My experience in all these areas, help me to offer support and challenge to the schools’ Senior Leadership Teams across the Trust.
I took early retirement from the Civil Service in 2013 and intend picking up my studies with the Open University, to gain my degree in International Studies.
I enjoy working as a Director, being at the heart of both schools and their communities and in making a contribution to the lives of our young children. I find it an extremely rewarding experience.
